About me

My name is Michael Clark. I am a Web Developer/Programmer from the Raleigh, NC area. My main expertise is in developing business applications, both internal and external, using the latest web technologies. I like to stay current on the latest developments in this area and find pertinent ways to utilize any new technolgy in my current applications.

Besides working full-time in a corporate office, I also have my own consulting company which manages websites, redesigns, application development and hosting.

WORK EXPERIENCE Container Graphics Corporation (Lead Developer)
Cary, NC, July 2008 – Current
  • Designed and developed internal programming framework that utilizes php, ajax, multiple database platforms and many other technologies that allowed multiple servers to access data as one single entity. Modules built on framework include quoting, ordering, art creation, inventory, plant collaboration and various other tools.
  • Developed web-based interface to allow customers to automate the generation of new corrugated box art, create jobs, search current and archived jobs, approve and deny jobs, and other various tasks only CSR’s could do internally.
  • Setup internal programming collaboration tools including subversion, wiki’s, framework error handling and logging, and ticket systems. Taught programmers how to use subversion and designed corporate roll-out procedures.
  • Developed Blackberry application written in Java for salesmen to generate quotes in the field and update pre-press and production systems for order planning.
  • Developed an external CRM system for salesmen. Allowed salesman to access their contacts and customer information including order and sales history from any computer.
  • Authored a web-based interface that allowed accountants to view general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable data in real-time. Included detailed views and graphs utilizing efficient ajax techniques.

Consultant
Rochester, NY, July 2001 – May 2004
  • Designed, developed, and maintained several database-driven, mid-sized websites using LAMP. All websites included modular-type programming easily allowing clients to update websites efficiently.
  • Lead project developer for LAMP user-based web portal system. Included modular system of user-based applications including email, calendars, forums, classifieds, task lists, news, and many others. Project also included specialized demographic advertising utilizing data warehousing and data mining techniques.
  • Lead project developer and manager of an enterprise resource planning/customer relationship management intranet application. Project consisted of combining all business related processes including CRM, HR, finance, supply chain management, and many others into one efficient system.
  • Managed small ISP consisting of more than 50 domains. Responsibilities included technical support, server administration, site security, website design and development, and customer service.

Executive Planning Consultants (Web Applications Developer)
Rochester, NY, December 2000 – September 2001
  • Designed, developed and maintained several websites for small to midsized clients utilizing Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and Photoshop.
  • Taught and created manuals to help clients understand and maintain their websites. Also taught clients basic website development and ftp/server commands.
  • Designed, developed and maintained company website which included video capture and streaming and several data-driven forms using ASP.

Dynamic Design Solutions Inc. (Programmer)
Charlotte, NC, June 2000 – December 2000
  • Programmed graphic user interface to run a custom robotic sewing machine through a GALIL board in Visual Basic.
  • Programmed server-side and client-side web pages using JavaScript, HTML, and ASP. Included several databases throughout the website and using ADO and SQL.
  • Programmed several other business applications using Visual Basic and SQL.
MILITARY EXPERIENCE Squad Leader/Team Leader, 82nd Airborne Division, May 2006 – August 2008
Sergeant (P), A Co. 1-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment
  • Responsible for the training, health, welfare, and morale of a nine-man airborne infantry rifle squad capable of deploying worldwide within 18 hours to conduct offensive operations to include: airborne assault, airfield seizure, air assault raid, ambush, movement to contact, and other military operations to achieve goals, policies, and objectives of the National Command Authority and the United States; Responsible for the growth of eight subordinate soldiers; Further responsible for all mission essential equipment valued at $150,000.
  • Served as the Platoon’s Sensitive Site Exploitation NCO while deployed to Afghanistan. Responsibilities included collection, categorization, and organization of sensitive items captured. Utilize and teach subordinates about the HIIDE camera system in a tactical environment.
  • Deployed to Afghanistan as a Team Leader in January 2007 and later promoted to Squad Leader in July 2007. Lead four-man team and nine-man squad on numerous air assault missions and returned home with all subordinates without injury.
  • Decorated for valor and meritorious service during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Infantryman, 82nd Airborne Division, April 2004 – May 2006
Specialist, A Co. 3-504 Parachute Infantry Regiment
  • Deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Squad Automatic Weapon Gunner. Decorated for meritorious service.
  • Served as platoon’s radio-telephone operator. Responsibilities included maintaining, utilizing and teaching subordinates about several communication devices.
